COVID 19: Nasarawa awaits result of man in isolation

Nasarawa State Government is awaiting the result of the man at its isolation centre for suspected case of coronavirus.

The Spokesperson for the state Ministry of Health, Abdullahi Ogoshi said, “We have taken the samples of the person for testing in the laboratory and they assured us that the result would be ready today, Thursday.”

He said that the patient has been admitted and isolated at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, ( DASH) for suspected symptoms of Coronavirus.

Abdullahi Ogoshi said that the man came to the state for wedding ceremony straight from a long journey and was noticed with symptoms suspected to be of the virus.

He said that the state is ready to assist patients it its isolation centres.

Meanwhile the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe has disclosed that many viruses do not have cure, but that they could be prevented.

He said, “I am calling on the people of the state and beyond to know that many viruses do not have cure, but they could be prevented by heeding the advice of medical practitioners.

“The main preventive measures are to wash hands, use sanitiser or spirit on the hand, cover face with hygienic mask, avoid close contact with people, avoid crowded places and ensure personal and environmental hygiene always”

Dr. Akabe who is the Chairman of COVID-19 State Committee, said his experience as former Commissioner for Health during the Lassa fever and Ebola  epidemic, would be useful in his new role.
