Some suspected gunmen have kidnapped the elder brother of Bauchi state governor, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri, in Bauchi metropolis, Daily Trust reports.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mukhtar Gidado, who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview, said Alhaji Adamu, popularly known as Yaya Adamu, was kidnapped on Wednesday evening where he usually rest and pray with friends.
Gidado said the abductors of Adamu are yet to contact the family adding that security operatives have been alerted.
Narrating the incident, a friend to the victim, who craved anonymity, said Adamu was kidnapped around 7pm by four gunmen along Anguwar Zaki street where he used to stay and chat with his friends.
“We were discussing when four armed men enter the shop and ordered their victim forcefully into their vehicle before they whisked him off and they fired several gunshots in the air to scare people away,” he said.
When contacted, Police spokesman in the state could not be reached as at the time of filing this report.
