The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, (FUPR) Effurun Delta State has appointed professor Akporure Rim-Rukeh as it’s new Vice Chancellor.
The Chairman of the Governing Council of FUPR prof. Shehu Abdullahi Zuru disclosed this in a press conference held in Abuja on Friday.
The newly appointed Vice Chancellor prof. Akpofure Rim- Rukeh is the fourth chancellor of the university.
Here are things to know about him:
1) Professor Akpofure Rim-Rukeh obtained a bachelors degree in Biochemistry in 1986 from the University of Port Harcourt.
2) Professor Akporufe obtained Postgraduate Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the University of Benin in 1993.
3) Also, he obtained a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt in 1998.
4) In 2004, Akpofure obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Delta State University.
5) In 2008, he became a Doctor of philosophy (Ph.d) in Chemical Engineering from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology.
6) He was acting Dean of Students Affairs; acting Dean of College of Science; acting Director SIWES; and was also the Branch Chairman Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of FUPR.
7) Until his appointment, he was the Deputy Vice-chancellor of the federal university of petroleum resources, (May – October 2019).
8) He is a president/executive director of Ovu Foundation, an NGO providing educational support to Ovu community.
9) Akporufe is a registered engineer (COREN R 39486) and corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE-14018).
10) He is married to Mercy awith who he has three children: Rex, Ray and Rukevwe.
