The Edo University, Iyamho has organised training for staff on the use of smart board.
The CANVAS LMS/AIS and Smart/Electronic Boards to be introduced by the university were meant for effective teaching and learning.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, said during the training that the institution would acquire modern teaching and learning facilities to deliver quality education to the students.
He said training became necessary because the modern facilities would be made available to the university, adding that personnel needed to be regularly trained to ensure that they were up-to-date.
“Essentially, the training, which is a continuous exercise, is to ensure that we can get the maximum benefits from these facilities that we have acquired for use,” he said.
He explained that it was resolved that all academic staff must be computer literate.
On his part, the Chairman, Edo University Learning Management Committee, Dr. Akinyola Olayinka, said that the CANVAS LMS/AIS was of assistance to the staff, students as well as the university community.
Dr Akinyola explained that the CANVAS LMS was an online platform, which creates interaction between the students and teachers.
Also, Dr. Wilson Nwankwo, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, noted that the Academic Information System (AIS) was an integrated system, providing computerised learning platforms for both the lecturers and the students of higher learning.
He said that the AIS provided the platform which allowed students to perform all academic activities, including course registration, checking of continuous assessment results, transcripts etc, unlike the traditional system where students carry forms, papers and others from one office to another in search of course lecturers.
