The Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, has matriculated 3,185 students, comprising 2,585 National Diploma (ND) and 600 Higher National Diploma (HND) students.

Addressing students at the 36th matriculation ceremony, the Rector, Abdullahi Ahmed, urged new students to be security conscious at all times, and be law-abiding members to ensure peaceful atmosphere, conducive for teaching and learning.

He noted that security had become an issue of serious concern all over the country while assuring that the management of the institution would never relent in curtailing the menace of insecurity.

Ahmed emphasised that the management would continue to prioritise security provisions for students, adding that all necessary safety measures had been put in place.

He disclosed that the polytechnic had agile and experienced security personnel that monitor all students’ movements and interactions without their knowledge.

“It will become mandatory for everyone, both staff and students, to have our identity cards conspicuously displayed on our persons once on campus. I pray for your cooperation on this, please,” Ahmed said.

The rector warned all students that the institution would not tolerate any act of indiscipline, cultism, drug abuse, indecent dressing, examination malpractice, and other vices.

Ahmed said most of the programmes of the polytechnic were either accredited or re-accredited during the 2018 and 2019 academic session.

Speaking on behalf of the matriculating students, Ms Sarah Joseph expressed commitment to abide by the rules and regulations of the institution.
