Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have arrested a suspected kidnapper at a checkpoint in Ankwa village of Sanga Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The suspect was paraded yesterday with a cash of N1,789,000 at the headquarters of OPSH in Jos.
The commander of the operation, Major General Augustine Agundu, said the suspect, who was arrested on a motorcycle had attempted to bribe his troops during the search which they (troops) turned down.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and his accomplices had been involved in series of kidnapping between Nasarawa and Kaduna States, adding that he (suspect) belongs to a criminal syndicate of eight members and the money found in his possession was his share from proceeds of ransom.
The suspect, who gave his name as Jafaru Shuaibu, admitted to journalists that the money was his, adding however that he got the money through magic means.
Twenty-four other suspects were also paraded. They include 13 suspected cultists, seven suspected militias and three suspected gunrunners.
He said the arrest of the suspects followed OPSH’s efforts to ensure result oriented operations to identify black- spots and hideous of criminals in the state.
