Sultan’s brother loses seat to PDP in Sokoto

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Abubakar Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of last Saturday’s rerun election into Sokoto South/Sokoto North federal constituency.

Abdullahi scored 68,985 votes to defeat the immediate past member representing the area who is also the brother of Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad, Bala Hassan Abubakar III.

Hassan scored 42,433 votes and 5,665 votes were declared invalid by the returning officer, Professor Mansur Ibrahim of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
