Army’ll continue to evolve strategies to end banditry, others in North

The Nigerian Army will continue to evolve strategies towards ending banditry and other criminal activities in the northwestern region of the country.

The acting General Officer Commanding, 8 Division, Brigadier General Aminu Bande, disclosed this while reviewing their 2019 operations during the West African Social Activities (WASA) held at Giginya Barrack at the weekend.

According to him, the ongoing operation in the northwest code named “Operation Hadarin Daji” was succeeding.

He said that “what remains is to consolidate on our successes in line with the strategic directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai.

He added that they had taken measures to correct noticeable lapses of last year.

He called on theater commanders to remain focus, train hard and be ready to deal decisively with criminals in their areas of responsibility.

He called on the host communities, and general public to always support the Army in their bid to rid the state of banditry and other crimes.

Bande also thanked the state government and the Sultanate Council for their sustained supports to the division.

In his remarks, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal assured that the state government would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the maintenance of peace in the state.

Tambuwal, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sa’idu Malam Ubandoma, commended the Army for their resilience in the fight against banditry and kidnapping in the northwest.
