Court remands teacher for allegedly sodomising pupil

A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Bauchi metropolis has remanded a 45-year-old Haruna Aliyu in a correctional centre for allegedly sodomising an eight-year-old pupil.

The suspect was accused of luring the pupil with N10 every Friday to have canal knowledge of him until he fell ill, which led to his arrest by the police.

The police prosecuting officer, Inspector Yusuf Usman, told the court that on December 6, 2019, one Altine Ladan of Ganjuwa Quarters in Bauchi metropolis lodged a complaint at the police station, accusing Haruna Aliyu of defiling his son through the act of sodomy.

In his ruling, Magistrate Abdulmumini Adamu adjourned the case to February 5 and ordered the suspect to be remanded in a correctional centre.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after adjourning the case,  the father of the victim said he was in shock over the incident and had come to court to observe how his child would get justice.
