Katsina Speaker, 2 others honoured in Daura

The Daura emirate graduands of 1983 secondary schools across the emirate have honoured some of their members for selfless service and life achievements.

Those honoured are the speaker of Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Tasi’u Musa Maigari; the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ya’u Umar Gojo Gojo; Special aide to the speaker of House of Representatives, Alh. Yusuf Shehu, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Alh. Danladi Hashim Daura.

Speaking at the occasion, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk, commended the students for their tireless contribution to the emirate and urged them to sustain the tempo for growth and development.

While calling for greater unity among them, the emir also drew their attention to extending their support and assistance to their old teachers who nurtured and guided them to their present status.

In his remarks, the chairman of the group, Alhaji Bala Salisu, said the awards were given to enhance unity and foster brotherhood amongst members, adding “we have been doing a lot in supporting our alma mater with teaching materials, furniture as well as provision of drugs and financially assisting members from time to time.

Responding on behalf of the recipients, the Speaker, Alh. Tasi’u Maigari, implored the association to introduce more ways of supporting the less privileged among their members.

He said there is need for more collective effort among old boys associations to further unite themselves for the development of the society adding “what we were able to achieve was from God and support from classmates and teachers who mentored us well.”‎
