Police arrest 3 men over murder, recover corpse

Three persons who the police said are members of Aiye secret cult have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of a middle aged man in Lagos State.

The suspects, whose identities were not known as at press time, allegedly killed the deceased, one Enoch Obaro, and dumped his body in a nearby bush in Ikorodu area of the state.

The police said vital organs of the deceased as well as his two hands and a leg were cut off.

The spokesman of the police in Lagos, Bala Elkana, said on December 12, about 8.30pm, one Yemisi Obaro, of No 5, Surulere Street, Agbowa reported at Agbowa Police Station that her husband, one Enoch Obaro, 30, left home in the morning and did not return.

Elkana said all efforts to trace his location proved abortive.

“On Thursday at about 2.30pm, police received a call that the remains of the missing person was sighted at an isolated/bushy area at Fadeyi junction, Imota, Ikorodu.

“A team of homicide detectives was drafted to the scene. The decomposing  body of the deceased person was evacuated for autopsy.

“The corpses was mutilated with the two hands severed and a leg cut off.  Expended cartridges and broken bricks were also recovered at the scene. Three suspects were arrested in connection with the murder.

They are members of Aiye confraternity who were on police wanted list for various offences ranging from armed robbery, violent attacks, cultism and land grabbing,” he said.
