The Edo State Police Commissioner, Lawal Tanko Jimeta, has paraded 48 suspects involved in various crimes in the state.
Parading the suspects, Jimeta said they were arrested for armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, defilement, among others in different parts of the states.
Jimeta explained that four suspects were arrested for robbery, four for kidnapping, 34 for cultism, six for fraud while one was arrested for defilement.
He said the police under his watch has adopted strategy to rid the state of criminal elements and make it safe for business to thrive, adding that the approach had paid off with the arrest of the suspects.
According to him, the 34 suspected cultists were arrested during a raid on some hide-outs where they operate.
Jimeta disclosed that two berretta pistols, one live ammunition, 10 cut-to-size gun and six live cartridges, four toy guns, three battle axes among others were recovered from the cultists.
He said the suspects had confessed to the crime and will soon be charged to court.
He appealed to the residents of the state to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement of persons to police for prompt action.
