He called on the public to join hands in the fight against corruption and not leave it to the agency alone, while debunking insinuations that the fight against corruption was one sided.
He stated that recent occurrences in the country was proof that the fight against corruption affects even those in government, adding that the Uyo zonal office of the agency is trying its’ best.
He revealed that investigations on the ‘Yahoo Academy’ busted in the state was still ongoing and when investigations are concluded, the ‘yahoo boy’s who were arrested would be charged to court.
“In collaboration with other critical agencies, we came out to go round all the streets in Uyo town to get the people sensitized, enlightened, and educated to show them the ills of corruption.
“If they allow corruption to go on, we would not be able to get the impact of development. We are calling on public spirited individuals to come along with us so that we can fight the battle against corruption.
“If you can see from recent development, there are some people who are in various parties that we have gotten them prosecuted. Even if it is the government in power, whosoever is found wanting, EFCC will look into it and start investigation, and at the end of the day, if we get evidence against the person, he will certainly go to jail.
“From January to date, the number of convictions is more than 60 in Uyo zonal office. Here in Uyo we have made a recovery of over N300 million. This is a small office compared to others, yet we are trying our best to see that we move forward,” he stated.
