Minister advocates innovation in education curriculum

The Minister of science and technology Dr Ogbonayya Onu has called for the inclusion of positive ideas, creativity and innovation at all levels of educational institutions of the country.

Dr. Onu said this during a courtesy visit by the management team of Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology in his office on Friday in Abuja.

He said there was need to work closely with the Federal Ministry of Education to ensure that positive ideas and creativity are added to the academic curriculum.

With this done Nigeria will start producing solvers, team workers, and innovative researchers and enhance creativity skills to solve prevailing challenges, he said.

According to the Minister, the administration of the President Muhammadu Buhari has achieved a very high level of self-reliance in food security and food safety.

In his word ‘’Many agencies under the supervision of the Ministry know the importance of food security and safety, because their interest is to grow food crops, harvest and efficiently store and process them  in a way that even when it is off season, food will be available.’’

According to Onu, the key mandate of the Ministry is to support all forms of research innovations anywhere and at any level in the country.
