Obaseki, Oshiomhole’s feud tears Edo N/Assembly caucus apart

The feud between Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has created a crack in the state caucus in the National Assembly.

Daily Trust reports that some members of the caucus addressed a press conference yesterday where they tongue lashed the governor and backed Oshiomhole.

Addressing a press conference at the House of Representatives Media Centre, Deputy Majority Leader, Peter Akpatason (APC, Edo) said the political scuffle began with the “nocturnal, illegal and unconstitutional inauguration of a handful of elected members of the House of Assembly, orchestrated by Obaseki.

Signatories listed on a press release read by Akpatason included Senator Francis Alimikhena, Patrick Aisowieren, Johnson Ogwuma, Julius Ihonvebere and Dennis Idahosa.

But hours after the press conference, Reps Patrick Aisowieren and Dennis Idahosa dissociated themselves from the briefing.
