The spokesman to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Laolu Akande, said that he has apologised to Mr Abayomi Adeshida, a photojournalist with the Vanguard Newspapers, attached to the State House, Abuja, who was on Thursday morning beaten up by security details of the Vice President.
Laolu in a tweet on Thursday evening said the incident is regretted.
He also said that ‘a list circulating in the media on the so-called sacked presidential aides is not genuine and ought to be ignored’.
Daily Trust Online had exclusively published names and portfolios of some of the aides of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who were sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“The needless scuffle btw (between) a villa accredited photographer, Mr. Adeshida & one of our security aides earlier today has since been resolved. Incident is regretted & I have apologized to him for any embarrassment caused. Also, a list circulating in the media on d (the) so-called sacked presidential aides is not genuine and ought to be ignored,” Laolu tweeted.
However, he neither confirmed nor dismissed the reported sack of the 35 aides.
We stand by our earlier report.
Laolu had earlier feigned ignorance of the two incidents.
When contacted on Wednesday about the reported sack of the 35 aides, Laolu said, ““I just heard it just like anybody. But I’m going to find out what is happening.”
He repeated a similar line when contacted on Thursday afternoon about the attack on Mr. Adeshida.
““Ah ah. Ok, I am hearing it from you for the first time right now. But let me investigate the thing. I will find out what happened and deal with the issue,” he had said on Thursday afternoon before releasing a tweet later in the evening to apologise.
