Three federal ministries have been operating without budgetary allocation in the last three months, according to the House of Representatives Committee on Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Refugees.
This was discovered during the budget defence by the Minister of the newly created Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq before the committee on Monday.
The committee named the ministries as; Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development; Police Affairs and Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs.
It could be recalled that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development was created in August during the inauguration of the present Ministers by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ministries of Police Affairs and Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs were however, reintroduced after their collapsed into other ministries four years ago.
Presenting her ministry’s first budget, of N44.272 billion, Mrs Farouq said although, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, had sent a memo to the President to provide take off grant for the new Ministries, it had not been paid, adding that the ministry had been operating without funding.
