The need for establishment of rehabilitation centres across Nigeria

Of recent, there have been raids of so-called rehab centres in Nigeria. The horror uncovered by the police that is being perpetuated by the controllers of these centres is shocking. In some of these places, many are being tortured and sexually abused. According to a police spokesman these people are kept in the most debasing and inhumane conditions in the name of reforming them. These are all very tragic, but the fact remains, some people need to be in Rehabilitation centres, so returning these people to their families isn’t helping much. So, what the government needs to do is take up the responsibility. The Federal Government of Nigeria needs to create rehabilitation centres, across the six geo-political zones of the country, to enhance the effective resolution of issues like drug abuse, hooliganism and so on in the country. There have to be places where we can take people in need of rehab; places where they can truly have a respite. There are so many of them in these abusive illegal rehabs that are not being taken care instead they are being treated like Animals. The FG needs to look into this.
