A visually impaired Professor of Education from Bayero University Kano, Prof Jibrin Diso has won a vehicle worth N8. 8million.
Contestants were the delegates that accompanied the Ministry of Budget and National Planning to the manufacturing plant of Innoson Vehicles Motors (IVM) and Professor Diso was amongst the delegates.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Mr Ernest Umakhihe, during the hand-over of the car in Abuja, said Diso’s emerged the winner of a raffle draw conducted at the 18th Joint Planning Board and National Council on Development Planning (JPB/NCDP) held in Delta state recently.
Disclosing how the professor won the vehicle, Umakhihe said that he led a delegation of 700 participants of Joint Planning Board and National Council on Development Planning for a meeting in Asaba, Delta.
“A familiarisation tour to Innoson Vehicles Motor (IVM) plant at Nnewi was undertaken by delegates to see the level of commitment of the company to manufacturing industry towards the nation’s economic diversification.
“As a show of appreciation for the visit to the plant, the Chairman of the company magnanimously donated a brand new IVM Ikenga 2020 model vehicle to the delegates.
“To determine ownership of it and for purpose of transparency, the council used a raffle draw and Professor Diso emerged successful,” he said.
