Lawmaker urges govt to investigate victimisation against civil servants

The Member representing Ganjuwa West State Constituency in Bauchi State House Assembly Hon Yusuf Inuwa Dadiye has sponsored a motion calling on the state government to investigate and punish all forms of victimization of civil servants in the state.

Dadiye, who moved the motion yesterday at the plenary of the house, said despite the role being played by civil servants in the development of the state they are facing victimizations such as sexual harassment and physical assault, among others.

The lawmaker lamented that many civil servants had come under victimization because of political differences before, during and after the 2019 general election.

He told the house that some were frustrated into leaving their jobs while others were denied promotion or transferred to remote villages.

He prayed that the state government will ensure that no civil servant is victimized in whatever form, and investigate all cases of victimization in the state and local governments.

The House referred the motion to the House Committee on Public Service for investigation.
