The management of Professors Group of Schools, Zaria where a famous Kannywood artiste, Adam Zango was said to have given scholarship to over 100 less privileged students, has said that beneficiaries of the scholarship programme have not been selected.
Investigation by Daily Trust revealed that the school in question was formerly using Professor Ango Abdullahi Group of Schools, but changed to Professors Group of Schools.
When our correspondent visited the school, the proprietor, Dr. Shamsuddeen Aliyu, was said to be away.
When contacted on phone, Dr. Aliyu said he was on his way to Sokoto with Adam A. Zango.
When asked to direct the Principal or any staff of the school to take our correspondent to see the beneficiaries, he urged our correspondent to exercise patience until he returns from his journey.
He added: “Adam Zango is not an indigene of Zaria. He doesn’t know anybody here. He gave us the responsibility of selecting the beneficiaries among the less privileged. Therefore, 40 slots were given to the Zazzau palace and the remaining slots were shared equally to PDP and APC. When I am back, I will organize for you to see the beneficiaries”
The chief protocol officer of the emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Abubakar Ladan (Chiroman Shantali) said that the school annually gives the palace scholarship to give out to people of the emirate.
He added: “However, I don’t know whether the slots they give to us include the ones sponsored by Adam Zango.”
After sometime, Alhaji Ladan called our correspondent and stated thus: “The Principal of the school has called to tell me that the 40 slots will be given to us during a ceremony that would be attended by Adam Zango in a later date.”
Our correspondent could not get the officials of APC and PDP to confirm whether they have received their slots of the scholarship.
