PTAD verifies 4,000 pensioners in Kogi

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) under the Federal Ministry of Finance, has commenced verification exercise for 4,000 eligible federal pensioners in Kogi State and environs.

The Executive Secretary of PTAD, Dr Chioma Ejikeme, who spoke during her visit to the verification centre in Lokoja, said the exercise was for federal pensioners who retired from parastatals and defunct agencies under the “Defined Benefit Scheme”.

She said the verification was to ensure that only deserving pensioners are captured on the database and to also use the exercise to resolve issues of underpayments, overpayments, unpaid pension arrears and gratuities.

Dr Ejikeme urged pensioners to be wary of scammers who would pose as PTAD officials to dupe them of their entitlements, adding that the organisation would never request them to pay any money before accessing what is due to them.

She said the federal government accords priority to the well-being of its pensioners, adding that PTAD was working very hard to include pensioners in the National Health Insurance Scheme.
