A 26-year-old Biochemistry graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Olawole Omotoso, has won the maiden edition of the N1 million seed fund of the Feed Tonight Foundation entrepreneurship programme.
At the final pitch and prize presentation ceremony of the initiative in Lagos, the Managing Director of Culture Communications Ltd., promoters of Feed Tonight Foundation, Mr Yomi Benson, said in the last nine months, the foundation fed over 5000 people with the goal of putting smiles on the faces of the hungry.
Benson explained that Feed Foundation deemed it necessary to extend the initiative to entrepreneurship, as the idea shouldn’t be about feeding people with fish alone but also teaching them to fish.
“We embarked on this not because we have huge funds, but because we believe we need to support young and brilliant Nigerians who have ideas that could have spiral effects on the economy and the society.
“It is our hope that we will be able to sustain this and make it bigger as the years roll by,” Benson said.
The winner, Omotoso, founder of Flairs Underwears, in Akure, Ondo State, commended the foundation for initiating the idea to help young aspiring entrepreneurs fulfil their dreams.
He said: “This N1m will go a long way in expanding our business, as presently the demand for our products (boxers for men) is far more than our production capacity.
“This will really encourage my team that good idea and hard work pay. I cannot thank Feed Tonight Foundation enough.”
