Suspected gunmen have killed a famous Fulani leader in Yola South Local Government Area in Adamawa state.
Alhaji Abdu Bali, the chairman of the state chapter of Tabbital Pulaku Joondie Jam, a Fulani socio- cultural organization, was shot dead alongside one of his visitors in his residence at about 8:00pm on Tuesday.
Spokesman for the Adamawa State Police Command, Sulaiman Nguroje, a superintendent of police confirmed the attack, saying the force had commenced investigation to track down the perpetrators.
The state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, had condemned the attack in a statement signed by his Director General, Media and Communications issued on Wednesday.
“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has condemned in strong terms the killing of Alhaji Abdu Balli, the chairman Tabital Pulaku Joondie Jam and one other in Yola”, he said.
The statement also condemned the killing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in Muchala ward in Mubi North Local Area, Ishaya Dauda, which occurred on Monday.
It added that the governor had directed the police to fish out the killers of the two community leaders with a view to bringing them to justice.
