Anyone who has lived in Abuja for even as little as six months knows about the Mararaba/Nyanya constant gridlock. The fact that despite many complaints by the people, the FCT government has not deemed it worthy to do something about this road is very annoying.
Why has the relevant authorities not expanded the Nyanya/Mararaba road to ease persistent difficulties faced by residents? It is obvious that an expansion is necessary. For years now, the residents of Mararaba/Nyanya area have been experiencing gridlock on a daily basis because the numbers of lanes are not enough to allow for free vehicular movement. There is only one access road to the area. Sometimes, some of us that live in these areas do not get to work until 12pm and the moment we get to work, the next thought is how to leave early to avoid gridlock.
When will the plights of people in satellite towns be taken into consideration? It is so obvious that anything that doesn’t affect Central Abuja doesn’t bother the administration. It is alarming that the government doesn’t realize many civil servants live in these areas and the constant gridlock and its wearing effects on the body and mind will affect the output of these civil servants in the various ministries and federal parastatals. The FCTA has to embark on prioritization of infrastructure for the benefit of the people ASAP!
