Kaduna School raid: Where is the State’s Ministry of Education?

The Nigerian Police on Thursday, rescued about 500 children from a school in Kaduna. The police said they were tipped off about suspicious activities going on in the so called ‘school’. The Kaduna state commissioner for Police, Ali Jenga said ‘it was a house of torture.’ From the heartbreaking pictures released by the police, this might indeed be true and if it is, the Kaduna State Ministry of Education has some questions they need to answer. There is a Department of Quality Assurance in the Ministry, which has the statutory mandate of inspecting, evaluating and monitoring all schools within the state. So where are they?  Why haven’t they been doing their jobs? Why wasn’t the school uncovered earlier? How did the school and its atrocious acts get to exist for so long? These are the questions that need to be answered.
