Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested three suspected dealers of illicit drugs in the state.
The suspects are Shafiyu Lawal, 28 years old; Zaharadden Yakubu and Aminu Isa – both 25 years old too.
Parading the suspects before newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday, the State Commandant of the corps, Babangida Abdullahi Dutsinma, said the suspects would be handed over to Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation.
He expressed worry on the menace of drugs abuse in the state, saying despite the effort by security agencies some saboteurs still indulge in the crime unabated.
“They were arrested by members of Civilian Joint Taskforce on 22 September, 2019 and handed over to the corps with exhibits such as Tramadol, Axzol 5, Valinex 5I and Diazapam. Investigation has revealed that they have been indulged in the illicit act from four to eight years around Makkaz in Kawo area of the state,” he said.
He added that the offence for which the suspects were arrested violated section 268 of the penal code which prohibits sale of illicit drinks or banned substance in the state.
The commandant also seek the support of the media in fighting crimes in the state just as he described the media as a strong partner in the fight against crimes in the society.
He called on media practitioners to always support the state command as its set to reduce crimes across the state.
