The National President of Borehole Drillers Association of Nigeria (BODAN), Francis Uzoma, has called on local government chairmen in Kano State to take environmental sanitation and hygiene seriously.
He said doing so will complement the efforts of the federal and state governments in measures to avoid outbreak of cholera and other related environment pollution diseases.
Uzoma, who stated this during an interaction with drillers in the state, commended the developmental strides of the state government and Minister of Water Resources, Engr Suleiman Adamu, “for taking the lead to end open defecation in Nigeria and the implementation of Partnership for Expanded Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (PEWASH).”
While asking well-meaning Nigerians to join in ensuring an end to open defecation in the country, he urged drillers nationwide to sensitize their clients and respective communities where drilling activities are carried out to practice use of toilets and hygiene.
