ABU unions end 3-day protest

The non-academic staff unions of the Ahmadu Bello University’s (ABU) research institutes yesterday ended a 3-day peaceful protest to press home their demand for payment of their earned allowances.

The unions that comprise National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) represent staff of the university’s Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), National Agricultural Extension Research and Liaisons Services (NAERLS), National Animal Production and Research Institute (NAPRI) and Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT).

A representative of NAAT (IAR), Mr. Samuel Ogbonaya, said the unions had been struggling for the past seven years to be treated as part of ABU.
