The department of petrol Resources(DPR) has sealed 12-filling stations in Jalingo,Gassol and Wukari in Taraba state for selling the petroleum products above the approved price.
The operation controller of the department, Jalingo field office, Mr.Jeremiah Mashat disclosed this in Jalingo.
He said apart from selling petroleum products above the approved price the affected stations were also found to be under dispensing the products to unsuspecting customers.
North East Trust gathered that stations sealed were discovered during a rating surveillance carried out by staff of the department.
Mr Mashat, who led the rating surveillance operation, stated further that four stations were sealed in Jalingo, six in Wukari and two in Gassol.
He said the operation will cover the entire 16 local government areas of the state to ensure total compliance of petroleum down stream rules.
The operation controller said owners of the stations sealed must pay a fine ranging from N100,000, depending on the gravity of the offence, before the stations would be reopened.
Mr. Mashat also told North East Trust that the department will not relent on its duty of monitoring filing stations in the state to ensure that members of public are not cheated.
