NLC appoints Okechukwu as new GS

The Central Working Committee of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), after its National Executive Council meeting, has appointed Comrade Emmanuel Okechukwu Ugboaja as the new general secretary of the union.

Comrade Emmanuel Okechukwu took over from the former general secretary, Dr Peter Ozo-Eson.

Comrade Okechukwu, a Law graduate of the University of Calabar, was born on 15th May 1966.

He, after four years of private practice, in 1993, joined the National Union of Chemical Footwear Rubber Leather and Non Metallic Products Employees, an affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress, where he rose to serve as General Secretary from 2000 to 2005.

Comrade Okechukwu became Coordinator, Advocacy and Mobilisation of Alliance for Credible Elections in 2006 and joined the NLC Secretariat in 2009.
