Abadam Local Council in northern Borno State has launched a distribution of free school uniforms, shoes and other learning materials to pupils in IDP camps staying in Maiduguri.
The LG caretaker committee chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Kawu Lawan, flagged off the distribution at an IDP camp situated within Mohammed Goni College of Legal and Islamic Studies (MOGCOLIS), Maiduguri.
Lawan said his council would continue doing its best to make the learning environment conducive to all children from Abadam local government.
“It is part of Governor Babagana Zulum’s 10-point agenda to restore the lost glory of education in the state and, therefore, our council is also working round the clock to ensure that the policies are implemented at the grassroots level,” the chairman said.
He called on parents and guardians to closely monitor their wards to prevent them getting involved into vices.
Kanem Trust gathered that so far, a total of 504 pieces of uniform was distributed while 220 girls and 150 boys received a pair of shoes each.
