Man, 33, remanded for defiling 13-year-old girl

An Ogba Chief Magistrate Court has ordered the remand in prison custody of a 33-year-old man, Daisi Awodeyi, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.

The accused was remanded pending when he would perfect his bail condition given to him by the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. B.O. Osunsanmi.

The accused was dragged to court on Tuesday on a two-count-charge of rape and having carnal knowledge of the underaged girl.

The Police said that the incident occurred penultimate Friday at Ndike street, Obawole area of Lagos.

In his brief, the Police prosecutor, Superintendent of Police, Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the accused allegedly lured the teenage girl into his apartment, cajoled her to remove her pants, while he proceeded to fiddle with her breast.

The prosecutor said that aside fiddling with the young girl’s breast, the accused went ahead to have carnal knowledge of the girl.

“My Lord, the young girl later reported the incident to her mother who promptly informed the Police. The suspect was arrested and later transferred to the Gender unit of the State Police Command for further investigation” he added.

The prosecutor said that at the station, the accused denied raping the girl, insisting that he had carnal knowledge of the girl with her consent.

He was consequently charged to court on the order of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu.

The Presiding Magistrate, B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail.

The Magistrate ordered that the case file be transferred to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
