The female National Youth Service Corp member abducted by Boko Haram in Borno State has been rescued from the insurgents.

Halima Uwani Musa, who hails from Gwoza, Borno State, was abducted by the insurgents between Gwoza and Maiduguri early this January. She is doing her youth service with the Borno State Ministry of Finance.

She was rescued yesterday by security agents and immediately handed over to the state government for reunification with her family and reintegration into the youth service and the larger society.

Handing over Halima to Deputy Governor Umar Kadafur, the GOC, 7 Div, Maiduguri, Brig.-Gen. Abdulmalik Bulama, said: “Her rescue was a product of collaboration and synergy with partners and critical stakeholders,” clarifying, “no negotiation and no ransom was paid for her release.”

Receiving Halima Kadafur, said she would be reunited with her family reintegrated into the society after a thorough medical checkup is conducted on her by government.

Halima, who said she suffered in the insurgents’ captivity, thanked God, the security agencies and other stakeholders for rescuing her, shedding tears.
