INEC to resume continuous voter registration – Gombe REC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it would resume the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise for eligible prospective voters ahead of the 2023 General Elections.

The Gombe State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Alhaji Umar Ibrahim disclosed on Monday in Gombe while receiving a service achievement award conferred on him by the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

He said the commission is concluding preparations and will soon resume the CVR for Nigerians that turned 18 and others that couldn’t register when the last registration exercise was suspended in August 2018.

The REC also implored the NANS to re-echo the commission’s call on students and other eligible voters to register and acquire the PVCs in order to perform their civic duties by participating in elections.

While commending the leadership of NANS for finding him worthy of the award, he said he had dedicated the award to INEC staff and other stakeholders that made the 2019 elections in the state a success.

Earlier, the Zone A Coordinator of NANS, Gyang Moses said the association conferred the award on the REC because of his exceptional performance by supervising the conduction of a credible and peaceful elections in the state.

He promised to complement INEC’s effort in conducting free, fair, credible and peaceful elections in the country.
