Normalcy has returned to Tungar Kafau and Gidan Wawa villages in Shinkafi local government area of Zamfara state following deadly attacks by armed bandits last Friday, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Muhammad Shehu has said.
At least 34 persons were killed in the attacks, Daily Trust gathered.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Gusau yesterday, he said: “On Saturday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Usman Nagogo, was in the state government’s delegation led by the Deputy Governor, Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Gusau, to the affected villages for burial of the deceased.
“The CP has directed that the combine security personnel be deployed to the area to improve and sustain the ongoing bush-combing of the affected areas and its environs for possible arrest of the perpetrators of this dastardly act.”
The police spokesman further explained that the commissioner of police had directed the command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct a discreet investigation with a view to unravelling the circumstance behind this crime.
He noted that whoever was involved in the dastardly act would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
The state police chief appealed to members of the public to always give the police credible and timely information and also report strange and suspicious characters for prompt action.
