A governorship aspirant in Kogi State, Major Gen. Patrick Ademu Akpa has expressed support for financial autonomy of local governments in the country.
The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, in a statement yesterday from his media office signed by Pastor John Desmond, pledged to work with council chairmen in the state to build a greater Kogi State, if elected governor in November.
He commended President Muhammdu Buhari for recognising June 12 as National Democracy Day, while urging Nigerians to live in unity.
“I promise to support the leadership of the 21 LGAs in Kogi State to ensure the success and smooth running of their respective affairs for the betterment of our people in local government areas in delivering the dividends of democracy.
“The task of ensuring adequate security, economic well-being and prosperity of all Kogites is a definite priority, and we will not rest on our oars until we make that happen in the Kogi State of our dreams,” he said.
