The death of a middle aged man, identified as Biola and said to be an aide of an influential man, Sunday Igboho, has caused confusion and heightened tension in Osogbo, Osun state capital.
Biola’s corpse was found in the pool of his blood at Oke-Fia area after an encounter with some individuals at a popular beer joint known as Riverside.
Some residents of Okefia said Biola was stabbed to death by some motor-park touts alleged to be members of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) over a dispute at the joint.
Another account said the touts had a clash with some cultists and that Biola was associating with.
However, the residents of the area are apprehensive of reprisal attack by Igboho boys. They appealed to the Osun State Police command to take proactive measure to forestall further killing.
A source close to Igboho said he was upset and furious over the death of Biola, an indication that other members of his gang might be ready for reprisal attack.
Reacting, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Folasade Odoro, said Biola was actually involved in an accident which took his life.
Odoro said the deceased had an accident while on aan okada and that the matter would be properly investigated.
