Spate of fake soldiers worries Lagos police boss

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, has expressed the command’s concern over what he described as “the increasing number of fake soldiers” perpetrating crimes in the metropolis.

Muazu expressed the worry following the arrest of one Musa Muhammed Agile, who claimed to be a soldier.

Agile was allegedly harassing innocent members of the public under the guise of being a solider.

It was learnt that the suspect went to the extent of flogging drivers who hesitated before complying with his directive.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the arrest, said that the suspect was intercepted by some policemen from the Iponri Division who were on traffic duty.

Elkana said, “On Sunday, at about 2.40 pm, a team of policemen on traffic control, and Lagos State task force officials arrested Agile on the Eko bridge. The suspect, who was fully dressed in military camouflage, was arrested while obstructing traffic and harassing road users. The suspect has confessed he was not a soldier. The suspect will soon be charged to court.”
