The Nigerian Army has arrested 49 suspected kidnappers at Kashimbila forest in Takum local government area of Taraba state.
Daily Trust was told by a resident of the area, Mr Bulus Gampi, that the soldiers arrived the area in helicopter.
According to him, the soldiers were from Abuja and joined by other soldiers from the Army barracks in Takum.
He added that the Kashimbila forest has been a den of notorious terrorist, Gana and his gang.
The soldiers, it was further gathered, stormed the forest during which the suspects were arrested.
The source stated that the forest located at the border of Taraba and Benue states is used by Gana, the wanted criminal kingpin from Benue state and his terror group as a hideout.
It was not clear if Gana was among the criminals arrested by the soldiers but they were said to have been taken to Abuja.
When contacted, the spokesman for Taraba state police command, DSP David Misal, said the state command was not aware of the operation.
He said it was purely a military operation and it may not be necessary to involve the police.
