The National Coordinator of IPAD, Alhaji Muhammadu Lawal Ida, the 2019 rainfall Prediction would save farmers and the country millions of Naira.
He said this at the NiMET-CASP downscalling workshop for 2019 seasonal rainfall prediction in Sokoto.
According to him, they hadk been working with NiMET to provide early warning system to farmers.
He however, urged farmers from Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara and Katsina states to be guided by the 2019 seasonal rainfall prediction to avoid loses.
In his remarks, the Director General of Nigeria Meteorological Agency, Professor Sani Abubakar Mashi, said the prediction would guide the farmers on what to do and the time of doing it.
According to him, the farmers would now know the time to expect rainfall, and its cessasion period and what to plant.
“This will enable them to plan well ahead of the farming session,” Mashi who was represented by Dr. Mansur Matazu said.
Aminu Ibrahim Tangaza, a farmer said they had benefited a lot from the 2018 prediction.
