The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has organised a one day North East Zonal Sensitisation workshop in Bauchi for professionals and other stakeholders on the challenges of building collapse in the country.
According to SON, the workshop which drew Architects, Builders, Surveyors and other professionals was organised to bring together all stakeholders in the building industry to ensure compliance in order to save lives.
In his welcome address, the SON Director General, Osita Aboloma said that the organisation is worried by the threat posed by building collapse as a result of quackery and non compliance to laid down rules in the building subsector.
Aboloma who was represented by the Gombe State SON coordinator, Alhaji Umaru Yakubu said that, the SON was established in 1971 to ensure adherence to standards, quality assurance, testing and metrology for products and services in Nigeria.
