The European Union has committed one million euro to enhance livestock business in three states of northern Nigeria.

The states are Katsina, Sokoto and Kebbi States.

Project Manager, Acting for Life, saddled with this responsibility, Dr. Ardo Aliyu, said yesterdfay that the project was also meant to enlighten pastoralists on modern grazing techniques which would curtail their movement.

He said: “They will stay in one place; plant their grasses and other animal feeds. We will support them with seeds, teach them how to plant and harvest it as well as how they could reserve it. We will also create access to market for them.

“We have to sensitize the pastrolists to understand that the world is changing and all the grazing reserve we knew were no more for some reasons such as climate change, desert encroachment among others. So we need to modernize our grazing pattern.”
