The Lagos State House of Assembly has finally passed into law, the 2019 appropriation bill submitted to it in December, 2018 by the State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

The passage of the appropriation bill is coming exactly one month to the end of Ambode’s tenure as the State Governor. The bill requires the Governor’s assent to become a law.

There has been so much of rancour on the 2019 budget of the State government, which actually pitched the Executive and the Legislature against each others. The matter got to a head in February, when some members of the Assembly schemed to impeach the Governor.

The rancour was however, resolved after the intervention of prominent Nigerians, including the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who asked the lawmakers to drop the impeachment threat against the Governor.

Governor Ambode was to subsequently, approached the assembly to present its proposal.
