Osun residents groan over incessant robbery attacks

The residents of Ilare-Ijesa, a town in Obokun Local Government area of Osun State have lamented incessant attacks on the community by robbers.

The traditional ruler of the town, the Owalare of Ilare-Ijesa, Oba Adejoro Otebolaku, said the problem of robbery in the community has become unbearable for his people.

In a letter written to the Osun State Police Command, the traditional ruler frowned that a gang of robbers who had been terrorizing the town that were arrested by police recently have not been charged to court.

But the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Abiodun Ige, said that the matter is still under investigation and the suspects are in custody while police detectives are on the trail of other members of the gang.

The Owalare said:  “Those robbers were arrested on Friday April 19, 2019 following an operation in which the three-man gang robbed someone and carted away a cash of N150,000 and valuable items including telephones. Members of the gang were nabbed through the tracking of the telephone sets stolen by the bandits in the town.”

Oba Adejoro urged the Commissioner of Police to charge the suspects to court immediately.

Also narrating his ordeal,  the Asiwaju of Ilare, Chief Oyedeji Olajubu said his house had been burgled severally by the robbers in which his property, worth millions of naira were stolen.

Also, a former staff of the Nigeria University Commission, Sir Boye Oyewande lamented that his properties were stolen in his house by robbers.
