A young herder, known as Mu’azu Jibo, was reportedly killed near Anturun Secondary School in Fadan Attakar Chiefdom of Kaura local government area in Kaduna state.
Speaking with Daily Trust separately, the chairmen, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), Southern Kaduna and Kaduna state chapter, Alhaji Abdulhamid Musa and Alhaji Haruna Usman Tugga respectively, said the incident happened around 11:00am on Wednesday when a man carrying gun opened fire on the deceased and ran away.
Abdulhamid Musa said the gunman, known as Taddius Nkom, was arrested later in the night and handed over to the police.
“He immediately ran away as he shot the herder but was arrested later in the night and was handed over to the police.”
Mu’azu Jibo, aged 20, however gave up the ghost when he was being conveyed to the hospital, as confirmed by the MACBAN chair, Southern Kaduna.
The chairman of MACBAN, Kaduna state chapter, Haruna Usman Tugga called on the herdsmen in the area to continue to be law-abiding and not to take laws into their hands as the security operatives are ready to deal with any perpetrator caught in such incidence.
Efforts to reach the police was to no avail as the Kaduna PPRO, DSP Yakubu Sabo, was neither picking calls and nor respond to SMS sent to him by our reporter as at the time of filing this report.
