The Senate on Tuesday passed the Police Trust Fund Bill.
The passage followed the concurrence by the Senate with the House version of the bill.
Our correspondent reports that the House had passed its own version of the bill and forwarded same to the Senate for concurrence.
Instead of starting a new legislative process after receiving the bill from the House, the Red Chamber decided to concur with the entire contents of the bill as passed by the Green Chamber.
Senate President Bukola Saraki had last week told the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu during a courtesy call by the police chief that the Senate would soon pass the bill.
Saraki said the National Assembly was committed to reforming the Nigerian police through the relevant laws that would strengthen the institution.
