The immediate past Head of Service (HOS) in Kebbi state, Abubakar Udu Idris, has expressed his regret over his inability to resolve the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) crisis in the state before retiring four days ago.
The former head of service stated this on Monday during the valedictory ceremony held for him by civil servants in the state.
While counselling civil servants on rules of civil services, he said “My only regret was not resolving NUT issues before I retired”.
The former HOS had served no fewer than 10 governors, nine SSGs, 200 committees before retiring last week.
He charged civil servants in the state to be honest, dedicated and continue learning throughout their service years for intellectual development.
Idris also debunked rumour in some quarters that he had written petitions against the state government.
“I do not write any petition against any government. Since I started serving in 1991, I have never written any petition against government,” he insisted.
He appealed to the state workers to shun partisan politics, dishonesty, corruption, character assassination and be good ambassador of civil service.
He enjoined them to work hard to reposition the civil service better than the level he left it.
Earlier, the state chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Umar Halidu Alhassan, urged civil servants in the state to emulate the good leadership of the HOS by embracing honesty, principle of simplicity and adherence to civil service rules.
