A former Speaker Federal House of Representative, Alhaji Ibrahim Salisu Buhari (Imam), has lost his father, Alhaji Salisu Buhari, who died at the age of 83.
The late business magnate passed away in an Egyptian Hospital on Monday after undergoing medical treatment, and his remains which were flown from Egypt, arrived Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) Kano on Wednesday late evening and was received by family members and business associates.
Among the prominent personalities that were at the Airport to receive the corpse include the Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, his Deputy, Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, members of the state executive Council, the bereaved family as well as members of the business community.
The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, led the funeral prayer in company of Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk, Chief Imam of Kano Central Mosque, Prof. Sani Zahradeen, , members of the Kano Emirate council, Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje and his Deputy, Alhaji Nasiru Gawuna.
Others in attendance were Alhaji Aminu Danatata, brother of the deceased, Alhaji Sani Buhari, his son Ibrahim Salisu Buhari and former governor of the state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, and prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil among others.
The remains of the late Alhaji Salisu Buhari, was on Wednesday laid to rest at his family cemetery adjacent to Dandolo Cemetery, Goron-Dutse in Gwale local government area at about 5:30 pm.
