USAID has launched a new agribusiness investment activity, ‘Feed The Future Nigeria Agribusiness Investment Activity,’ in efforts to promote private sector investment in agriculture.
This comes under a new contract with international development organization, Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture (CNFA).
This was made known in a press release by the US embassy in Abuja.
“This activity aims to help Nigeria develop and strengthen a more business-enabling environment through promotion of private-sector investment in agriculture.”
“Through CNFA, USAID will work to improve the ease of doing business in the agricultural sector, broaden access to finance by mitigating the credit risks of agribusinesses, and promote investment opportunities for agribusinesses to expand and scale up operations,” the statement read.
The statement added that the investment is expected to increase the quality, quantity, market access and diversification of Nigeria’s agribusiness sector, in line with the commitment to broaden the economy made by the US government and Nigeria.
